COURSE OVERVIEW

The ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Environmental Management is an advanced qualification aimed at senior professionals and decision-makers responsible for shaping environmental strategies and driving organisational sustainability initiatives. It focuses on equipping learners with the expertize to lead on policy development, compliance, and innovative environmental management practices at a strategic level.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

On completion of this qualification, learners will be able to:

  • Understand and evaluate environmental policies, governance structures, and their role in regulatory compliance.
  • Develop skills to conduct and interpret environmental impact assessments for sustainable decision-making.
  • Apply principles of sustainable development to organisational strategies and practices.
  • Identify, assess, and manage environmental risks to minimize organisational and ecological impact.
  • Analyse climate change challenges and implement effective energy management strategies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain environmental management systems in line with recognised standards.
  • Promote efficient resource use and develop strategies for sustainable waste management.
  • Understand the economic principles influencing environmental decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Conduct environmental audits and prepare accurate sustainability reports for compliance and performance monitoring.
  • Apply appropriate research methodologies to investigate and solve environmental management issues.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Centres should carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment. This qualification is approved for candidates aged 19+.

QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE

This qualification consists of ten mandatory units. Candidates must complete all mandatory units to complete this qualification.

Assessment: Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge and competence described in the unit. Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification. Each candidate is required to produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

  • Professional discussion
  • Witness testimony

  • Worksheets
  • Record of oral and written questioning
  • Recognition of Prior Learning

Certification: Candidates who achieve the requirements for qualifications will be awarded:

  • A certificate listing all units achieved, and
  • A certificate giving the full qualification title
